Are you a candidate for LASIK?

Happy family hiking

If you lead an active lifestyle and are bothered by the inconvenience or appearance of glasses and the risks of contact lenses, you may be a candidate for LASIK. Also, if allergies, dry eye, or other eye disorders make contact lenses irritating to wear, LASIK may be a safe, convenient alternative.

For many of our patients, LASIK is a life-changing experience. A dramatic improvement in vision takes place painlessly in just a few minutes. Many people wake up the morning after surgery and see the alarm clock clearly for the first time ever.

Not everyone is a candidate for LASIK Laser Eye Surgery. At Ophthalmology Associates, a personalized no-cost evaluation with Dr. Robert Warren is your first step in determining whether you are a good candidate for LASIK or other vision correction procedures.

And the best part at Ophthalmology Associates, there’s absolutely no obligation after your evaluation at Ophthalmology Associates.

At your free LASIK Evaluation, you will work with Dr. Warren as well as members of our experienced technical staff to obtain the necessary information to determine your candidacy for LASIK eye surgery.

We will walk you through the procedure step by step, discussing potential results and expectations. Our friendly team of experts will provide you with a complete exam that will:

  1. Determine your best-corrected vision.
  2. Obtain detailed, computerized mapping of your eyes.
  3. Discuss your targeted prescription and monovision, if applicable.
  4. Answer any questions you may have about the procedure.

Each individual has extremely unique eyes. Before LASIK is performed you will undergo a series of diagnostic tests to determine the stability of your vision. After a thorough evaluation of your eyes, Dr. Warren will determine if you are a candidate. This thorough diagnostic evaluation is the first step in creating a positive outcome for you!

Dr. Warren will provide the pre-operative eye exam that will set you on a path for determining your LASIK candidacy. ALL refractive surgery or LASIK candidates will undergo this exam. Many patients ask what is involved in this type of examination. Below is a list of some items that are typically involved in the evaluation process.

As part of your initial pre-operative LASIK evaluation, Dr. Warren will give you a thorough education of LASIK. If you have been told in the past that you are not a candidate for LASIK eye surgery you might want to call us about the latest advancements. Depending on your unique visual situation you may now be a candidate for the surgery.

Expectations

Your choice to have LASIK laser vision correction is a serious decision. Ultimately, you will be the one to make the final decision. When selecting a LASIK surgeon it is important to select a surgeon that can honestly explain your visual needs. It is important to select a surgeon with a vast amount of experience is important. The ultimate goal of LASIK is to reduce your dependence on glasses and contact lenses.

LASIK does not always create perfect 20/20 vision, though most cases are successful in improving vision. Ask the right questions before selecting your surgeon. Make sure that your surgeon of choice has the right answers and experience to ensure a safe and effective procedure. It is possible that this is one of the most important decisions that you will ever make.

The final step is to meet with our LASIK coordinator, Cathy Abbott in Fort Worth, Texas who will:

  1. Discuss what to expect and prepare for the day of surgery.
  2. Review any restrictions you will have after surgery.
  3. Review all drops you will use postoperatively.
  4. Discuss all financial questions.
  5. Help you schedule your LASIK or refractive surgery if you are ready to do so.

Only you can decide if LASIK at Ophthalmology Associates is the right choice for you. We work hard to try and empower you with the knowledge you need to make an informed decision. Let Dr. Warren and our dedicated staff show you there is no better time to enjoy a new vision of life with LASIK laser vision correction.
